Purdue Men's Basketball

Coming off a thrilling 87-80 victory over the #8 Alabama Crimson Tide on the road, the Purdue men’s basketball team returns home to face the Zips of Akron. This is no time for a day off though. Akron comes in 3-0 and Purdue needs to show their doubters that they can handle the opponents they should handle rather than allowing them to keep it close like they did against Oakland. Of course, the Oakland game was without All-American Trey Kaufman-Renn and we saw what a difference he made in the game against Alabama. Tonight Purdue should be at full strength.
The Zips are 3-0 with wins against James Madison, Princeton, and someone called Penn State-Shenango. Google tells me they are a commonwealth campus of Penn State that is in Sharon, Pennsylvania. So I guess it’s sort of like Purdue Fort Wayne. Akron is led by Amani Lyles who averages 16 ppg and 7.7 rpg both tops on the team. They have 10 guys on the squad who have averaged 10 or more minutes per game but given that they’ve won their first three games by an average of 35 points those numbers will likely be different in today’s matchup. Akron shoots 32.4% from three so expect them to hit roughly 40% against the Boilermakers. If you know you know.
