Kenneth James McFarland, 87, of Chester, VA, passed away on August 8, 2024. Kenneth was born in Exeter, New Hampshire, on January 9, 1937, to Fred and Marion McFarland. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 47 years, Beverly Ann; brothers, Harry, Earl, Alfred, Herbert, George, and Leon; and sisters, Bessie, Blanch, Barbara, Bernice, Beatres, Beverly, and Bethal.   Kenneth worked at Phillip Morris for almost twenty years and was a faithful member of and deacon at Walthall Baptist Church. As the Apostle Paul said, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Well done, good and faithful servant."   Kenneth is survived by his children, Kenneth McFarland, Jr., Tammy Porter and husband Thomas, and Rose Heckbert and husband Brian; step-children, William McFarland (Amanda) and Cindy McKeown (Allen); grandchildren, Kristine, Kenneth, and Shane; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Misty; step-grandchildren, Jeremy McFarland, Christi Arehart, and Stephanie Greene; step-great-grandchildren, Ryan Ashley, and Aidan and Landon Arehart; as well as a great-great-grandchild, Maverick.   A funeral service for Kenneth will be held at Walthall Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, VA, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m, with Pastor George Schutte presiding. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m.
